Patonga was a really good ship, we nicknamed her 'The PandoButlin' as all the rest of the cargo fleet had lost their lovely names to be Pando… Whatever! We always went to Aussie with general cargo then over to NZ to load butter, cheese, apples and of course meat. We went to all the major and minor ports of NZ, mainly on the east coast and occasionally down to Hobart, then anywhere in the world, Far East, America & Canada, Mediterranean ports and home to the King George V docks, or the Royal… Now long gone…
